เฮ้อ...ไอ้เราก็เปิดเทอมของปริญญาโทมาได้อาทิตย์นึงแล้วสินะ เดี๋ยวผมจะเล่าให้ฟังว่าในหนึ่งอาทิตย์แรกเนี่ยผมได้ทำอะไรไปบ้าง กะจะอัพแบบหนึ่งเอนทรี ห้าวันเลย จะอัพวันละเอนทรีแบบ June Write ก็ขี้เกียจ งั้นเอาตามที่ตัวผมเองสะดวกดีกว่า ก่อนจะเล่าก็ขอแนะนำคณะที่ผมเรียนให้ได้รู้จักกันซักนิดนึง ตอนนี้ผมศึกษาหลักสูตรปริญญาโทอยู่ในโครงการ TAIST Tokyo Tech ซึ่งเป็นความร่วมมือกันระหว่างสถาบันเทคโนโลยีแห่งโตเกียว (Tokyo Tech) กับมหาวิทยาลัยของไทย ปีการศึกษานี้มีอยู่สองหลักสูตรด้วยกัน คือ Automotive Engineering (AE) กับ Information and Communication Technology in Embedded Systems (ICTES) ซึ่งเป็นวิศวะทั้งคู่ เรียนที่ตึกของ สวทช. ใกล้ๆ กับ ม.ธรรมศาสตร์ ศูนย์รังสิต ผมเรียนอยู่ในหลักสูตร ICTES หลักสูตรนี้จะแบ่งเป็นสองช่วง ช่วงแรกจะเป็น Distance Learning คือเรียนกับศาสตราจารย์แบบ Video Conference จาก Tokyo Tech เลย แต่ละด้านก็จะมีกล้องแล้วก็ไมค์สำหรับติดต่อกันได้เลย ทางฝั่งไทยก็จะมี Co. Lecturer จากมหาวิทยาลัยไทยนั่งอยู่ในห้องด้วย เผื่อมีนักศึกษาคนไหนไม่เข้าใจ จะได้ถาม อ. ไทยได้ หรือจะพูดคุยกับ อ. ชาวญี่ปุ่นที่ต่อสัญญาณมาจาก Tokyo Tech เลยก็ได้เหมือนกัน ช่วงแรกเริ่มเดือน มิ.ย. ถึง ต้นเดือน ส.ค. ช่วงที่สองจะเป็น Intensive Learning ในช่วงเดือน ส.ค. ถึง ต.ค. ที่ญี่ปุ่นจะเป็นช่วงปิดเทอมฤดูร้อนพอดี ศ. ที่ญี่ปุ่นก็เลยเดินทางมาสอนถึงในห้องเรียนได้
Um, I've started my Master degree semester for a week now. I'll tell you what did I do during in the 1st week. Better write this entry for five days rather than write an entry for everyday because I might not have time for that. First, I'll introduce what I'm studying. I'm in the TAIST Tokyo Tech, which is the cooperation between Tokyo Institute of Technology and some universities in Thailand. Currently, there're 2 curriculum: Automotive Engineering (AE), and Information and Communication Technology in Embedded Systems (ICTES); both gives the Master Degree in Engineering. The studies are held at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) near Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus. I'm in the ICTES curriculum. The curriculum is divided into 2 parts. First, the distance learning with the Prof. from Tokyo Tech directly via the video conference technology. There're the cameras and microphone in both side so that both can communicate with each other. In the Thais side, there're also the Co-lecturer for the students to ask questions or they can ask the Prof. from Tokyo Tech directly. The second part is the intensive learning. During August and October, it was the summer vacation in Japan. So, the Prof. can come to Thailand and teach us in the class.

วันนี้วันแรกที่เริ่มเรียน เราควรจะมาให้เร็วเข้าไว้ มาถึงก็ได้เจอกับเพื่อนร่วมชั้นเรียน มีทั้งเพื่อนที่จบป. ตรีมาจาก SIIT ด้วยกัน, จากมหาวิทยาลัยอื่นๆ และก็มีที่ออกจากงานเพื่อมาเรียนด้วย วิชาแรกเรียน Information Communication Network มี Co Lecturer เป็นอาจารย์ KW กับ SG จาก SIIT อืม วิชานี้มี Co Lecturer เป็นสองท่านนี้ก็เหมาะสมดี เพราะทั้งสองท่านก็สอนเกี่ยวกับ Network อยู่ใน SIIT ด้วย วันนี้เริ่มเรียนแบบ Distance Learning เป็นวันแรก อ. ชาวญี่ปุ่นสอนเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ก็พอจะเข้าใจภาษาอังกฤษสำเนียงญี่ปุ่นและความหมายบ้าง ถึงจะทำการเรียนการสอนเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ แต่ก็นึกอยากจะเรียนญี่ปุ่นขึ้นมาซะงั้น คิดว่าจะเรียนเพื่อให้เข้าใจสำเนียงของชาวญี่ปุ่นได้ง่ายขึ้น แล้วก็เผื่อจะได้ใช้สำหรับอ่าน Manga ด้วย เหอะๆ หลังจากเลิกเรียน อ. TT ก็เข้ามาบอกถึงการลงทะเบียนในวันพรุ่งนี้ คนที่สมัครกับม. เกษตรศาสตร์ต้องไปลงทะเบียนที่ ม. เกษตรศาสตร์ คนที่สมัครกับ SIIT ก็ลงทะเบียนกับ SIIT อ. นัดเจอกันตอนบ่ายโมง

The day which the semester starts; I should come early today. Upon arriving, I met the classmates. Some of the classmates come from SIIT (where I study in Bachelor Degree), some are from the other universities, some quit the job for studying. We studied Information Communication Network, the co lecturers are from SIIT. I know them both and think that they're appropriate to be the co lecturer of this subject because they also tought about networking. Today is also the first day of the distance learning. The teachings are in English. I can understand the English in Japanese accent easily because I've studied like this in one course in the Bachelor degree. Even if, the teachings are in English, I sometimes feels like study Japanese language all of a sudden. Probably for the better understanding the Japanese accent and for reading the Japanese mangas, lol. After the class, the teacher come and tell us about the registration which'll be held tomorrow.

มาถึงที่หน้าห้องสมุด SIIT รังสิตประมาณเที่ยงกว่าๆ ยังไม่เห็นใครมา ก็เลยไปทานอาหารเที่ยงที่โรงอาหารวิศวะ ทานเสร็จก็เจอเพื่อน แล้วก็มาที่ห้องสมุดอีกครั้ง เข้าไปเล่นอินเตอร์เน็ตรอด้านใน สักพักก็สังเกตเห็นกลุ่มคนเดินเข้ามาในห้องสมุด เดินไปที่ชั้นสอง...เอ...เมื่อไร อ. TT จะมานะ สักพักก็เจอกับเพื่อนอีกกลุ่มหนึ่ง รอจนถึงบ่ายกว่า อ. TT ก็มา พวกเราก็เดินตามไปชั้นสอง เดินเข้ามาในห้องห้องหนึ่ง เจอกับกลุ่มคนที่เดินเข้ามาก่อนหน้านี้ ที่แท้ก็เป็นรุ่นพี่ที่เรียน ICTES เหมือนกันนี่เอง ของเขาเป็นรุ่นที่หนึ่ง รุ่นเราเป็นรุ่นที่สองของ ICTES... จริงสิ หลักสูตรนี้เพิ่งเปิดเมื่อปี 2551 เป็นปีแรกนี่นา รุ่นพี่เจอะรุ่นน้อง ทำความรู้จักกัน แล้วก็เริ่มทำการลงทะเบียน ได้ทราบมาว่ารุ่นพี่ต้องทำ Seminar แล้วก็ Thesis ด้วย แต่เรา รุ่นน้องก็ควรจะเตรียมตัวหาข้อมูลไว้แต่เนิ่นๆ ก็ดีเหมือนกัน

Arrived at SIIT about noon, seen no one so I went to lunch. After lunch, I met a friend. We both walk to the library and found some group of people goes to the 2nd floor. Waiting until 1PM, we found a group of friends and the teacher comes. We all went to the 2nd floor and come into the room. We found the group of people who came here earlier, in fact they're our upperclassmen. They're in the 1st batch and we're in the second batch. Now, seniors meet Juniors, greeted each other, and started the registration process. I've heard that the seniors have to do the seminars and prepare the thesis. We, the juniors, also have to prepare doing that early if possible.

เนื่องจากป. โท จะเรียนไม่เยอะเหมือนกับ ป.ตรี ก็เลยคุยกับเพื่อนเกี่ยวกับการหาเงินในขณะเรียนไปด้วย คิดว่าน่าจะเป็น Teaching Assistant (TA) หรือไม่ก็ Research Assistant (RA) ลองไปถามอ. TT อ. ก็พบว่าวิชาแลบส่วนใหญ่ก็มี TA หมดแล้ว อีกความคิดหนึ่งก็คือไปเป็น RA ให้กับนักวิจัยในแถวๆ สวทช. อันนี้ก็น่าสนใจเหมือนกัน เพราะจะเป็นการเตรียมตัวทำ Thesis ได้ไปในตัว ตอนนี้ก็ยังไม่ได้ตัดสินใจเลย แต่ที่ตัดสินใจแน่วแน่แล้วก็คือจะต้องเรียนภาษาญี่ปุ่นให้ได้
Since the Master degree don't have to study as much as the Bachelor degree, we talked about earning money while also studying. Better be a TA or RA. The teacher said that most laboratory class now already have TAs. Another choice is becoming the RA and help the researchers in NSTDA. This is interesting because we can do it as the project an submit it to the conference. For now, I haven't decided yet, but the certain thing I've decided was having the Japanese lesson!

ปกติแล้ว วันอังคารจะมีเรียน Speech and Language Processing (มี TT กับ CN เป็น Co Lecturer) ในตอนเช้า และเรียน Research Methodology ตอนบ่าย แต่สัปดาห์นี้ยังไม่เริ่ม จะเริ่มในอังคารหน้าแทน
Normally, we'll study Speech and Language Processing in the morning and Research Methodology in the afternoon. But since we have to do the registration, the couse will be started next week.

วันแรกที่เรียนตอนเช้า เมื่อคืนนอนเที่ยงคืน แล้วตื่่นมาตอนเจ็ดโมงเช้า ก็ง่วงนิดหน่อย เพราะปกติตื่นแปดโมง แม่จะต้องไปทำงานเป็น อ. ที่ มธ. พอดี ก็เลยติดรถไปด้วย มาถึงก็เจอเพื่อน ชวนกันไปทานข้าว แต่ระหว่างทางก็เจอเพื่อนอีกกลุ่ม เลยอยู่คุยกันจนถึงเวลาเข้าเรียนจนลืมทานอาหารเช้าเลย... วันนี้เรียน Processor Architecture Design, Co Lecturer มาจาก KU วันนี้มีปัญหานิดหน่อย ภาพที่ส่งมาจาก Tokyo Tech มันไม่ค่อยชัด มองไม่เห็นสไลด์ที่ อ. สอน เพราะดูเหมือนเป็นสไลด์เปล่า ตอนเรียนก็มีไม่เข้าใจบ้าง หลังจากเลิก อ. Co Lecturer ก็เลยทบทวนเป็นภาษาไทยให้อีกครั้งหนึ่ง ก็ช่วยได้พอสมควร แล้วก็มีแบบฝึกหัดให้ทำด้วย พอเรียนเสร็จก็ไปทานข้าวเที่ยงกับเพื่อน แล้วก็ไม่ลืมที่จะไปสมัครเรียนภาษาญี่ปุ่นที่ สถาบันเอเชียตะวันออกศึกษา (หรือที่เรียกกันว่า ศูนย์ญี่ปุ่น) ด้วย

The first day with the class in the morning. Yesterday I slept at midnight and woke up at 7AM, quite sleepy because I usually woke up at 8AM. I went to TU with my mom because she is also a teacher in TU. Upon arriving, I found a SIIT friend, was going to the canteen, found another friends while walking. We talked to each other until the class started and I even forgot to eat breakfast on this day! Today we studied Processor Architecture Design. The co-lecturer are from Kasetsart University (KU). There're some problems today because the signal from Tokyo Tech today wasn't very good, cannot see the slides clearly. Thanks to the class leader who brought the lecture handout for us, we could continue studying. After class, we asked the co-lecturer to have the review in Thai, which helps us very much. The Prof. also left the exercises for us to do. After the review session, we have lunch and also not forget to register for the Japanese language course.

มาถึงสวทช. ตอนเช้า ขึ้นลิฟต์ไปชั้นสอง ก็ไปเจอกับเพื่อนเข้า พอรู้ว่าเพื่อนทำอะไรอยู่ก็...เฮ้ย! นี่เริ่มทำแบบฝึกหัดของเมื่อวานแล้วเรอะ!? นี่เราปล่อยตัวเกินไปหรือเปล่าเนี่ย! ลองทำบ้างบางข้อดีกว่า... วันนี้เรียน Digital Signal Processing Theory นับว่าเป็นครั้งแรกเลยที่เรียนเกี่ยวกับ Signal Processing... โอ้โห มีสูตรให้จำเยอะเลยแฮะ แต่ถ้าเข้าใจทฤษฎีก็จะช่วยได้มากเลย คิดว่าวิชานี้น่าจะยาก แต่ก็มีบางส่วนที่พอจะเข้าใจเหมือนกัน... ตอนท้ายก็มีแบบฝึกหัดให้ทำเหมือนกัน Co Lecturer ให้ทำแบบฝึกหัดลงกระดาษแล้วก็ส่งสัปดาห์หน้า ถ้าเราเริ่มทำตอนนี้เลยก็น่าจะดี... ก่อนกลับก็ได้รับชีทของวิชาที่จะเรียนพรุ่งนี้...อืม... ดูไม่ค่อยยากเท่าไร เหมือนจะเคยเรียนมาแล้วตอนอยู่ป. ตรี ปีสอง แต่เราก็ไม่ควรจะประมาท เพราะที่เห็นน่ะเป็นแค่การแนะนำเท่านั้น...

Arrived at NSTDA in the morning. Found the friends while going to the canteen and found that... Wtf! You have started doing some of the exercises yesterday already!? Am I too confident!? I'd better do some exercises too... Today we studied Digital Signal Processing Theory. This was the first time I've started studying about Signal Processing... Woah, a lot of formulas to remember. However, understanding the concepts could help a lot. Was thinking that it might be difficult, but I understand some parts of it... After class, the co lecturer give the exercises as the homework to be submitted next week, better start doing it now... Before we left, we got the lecture handout for tomorrow's subject. Hmm, looks simple as if we've already learned it in the 2nd year in the Bachelor degree. I shouldn't be too confident because what I've seen was just for the 1st period...

วันสุดท้ายของสัปดาห์แรก เจอเพื่อนอยู่ที่ชั้นสองเหมือนเคย วันนี้เรียนวิชา Basic Digital System Design คาดว่าน่าจะเรียนเกี่ยวกับวงจรดิจิตอล ปกติช่วงเช้าจะเรียน 8:40-10:10 แล้วตอน 10:20 - 11:50 ในตารางจะเป็นช่วงทำแบบฝึกหัด แต่ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับ Co Lecturer ว่าจะให้ทำอะไร วิชาอื่นๆ ก็มีการทบทวนเป็นภาษาไทย แต่วิชานี้จะเรียนตั้งแต่ 8:40-11:50 เรียนสัปดาห์เว้นสัปดาห์แทน เนื้อหาก็คล้ายๆ กับวิชา Digital Circuits ที่เคยเรียนตอน ป.ตรี ปีสอง พวก Logic Gates, Logic Circuits หลังจากเลิกเรียนก็รออยู่ต่อสักพัก เพราะได้ยินว่าจะมีการแจกแลปทอปให้คนละเครื่อง ว้าว เจ๋งไปเลย! ได้ยินมาว่าโครงการนี้จะเน้นการเรียนการสอนแบบไม่ใช้กระดาษ จะเรียนผ่านทางกล้องแล้วก็เปิดสไลด์ดูจากคอมไปด้วย แต่ชักสงสัยแล้วสิว่าทรัพยากรที่ใช้ไปกับการผลิตชีท กับทรัพยากรที่ใช้ผลิตไฟฟ้าเพื่อการเรียนการสอนสำหรับสามชั่วโมงเนี่ยอันไหนจะแพงกว่ากัน บางทีก็คิดว่าแบบกระดาษน่าจะดีกว่า เพราะสามารถพกติดตัวไปอ่านที่ไหนก็ได้ แทนที่จะแบกคอมหนักสองกิโลกรัม เฮ้อ... ตอนบ่ายก็ไปรับแลปทอป แล้วก็คุยกับเพื่อนว่าจะลงระบบปฏิบัติการอะไร เพราะมันให้ Windows Vista OEM มา ถ้าจะใช้ทำงาน Windows XP จะทำงานกับโปรแกรมต่างๆ ได้ดีกว่า เอ๊ะ! หรือว่าจะลง Linux ดี เพระาได้ยินจากรุ่นพี่ว่าบางวิชาจะต้องใช้ Linux ด้วย ถ้าจะใช้ Windows ด้วยก็อาจจะผ่านทาง VMWare เฮ้อ... ลองรอดูไปสักพักดีกว่า ก่อนกลับบ้านก็แวะไปดูหนังเรื่อง คนเหล็ก 4 ที่ฟิวเจอร์รังสิต หนังก็สนุกดี ดูแล้วเหมือนน่าจะยังมีภาคต่อ แต่ก็อยากให้คุณอาร์โนลด์กลับมาเล่นเรื่องนี้อีกเหมือนกัน จากนั้นก็เดินทางกลับบ้าน

The last day of the first week. Found friends at the 2nd floor as usual. Today we study about Basic Digital System Design. Normally, in the morning, there'll be 2 periods, from 8:40-10:10 and 10:20-11:50. The first period will be studying, the second period depends on the lecturer whether what he/she will do. Some subjects has the review session in Thai, but this subject lasts for 2 periods in the morning but not every week. The content is very similar to the Digital Circuits subject which I've already studied in the 2nd year of the Bachelor degree. After the class, we have to wait until 1PM because we've heard that there'll be the laptops giving to the students. Wow, great! Heard that this curriculum will do the studying without using the papers, but will study via the camera and watch the lecture from the laptop instead. I wonder whether which one is more expensive, the resource used for producing the lecture handout or the resource use for powering up the laptops for 3 hours? Sometimes I think that the paper-based is better because we can bring it with us everywhere instead of bringing the 2 kilograms weight everywhere with us, sigh. In the afternoon we got the laptop and have the discussion about the OS we should use. Windows Vista OEM was given with the laptop. However, Windows XP is more compatible with the programs more than Vista. Or maybe we should install Linux? Heard from the upperclassmen that some subject require Linux. Also, we can use Windows via VMWare too. Sigh, better wait for a while before deciding. Before going home I went to Future Park Rangsit to watch Terminator Salvation. The movie was fun. Seems like there might be the continuation... I also wish that Arnold Schwarzenegger would come back and play as the Terminator again. After that, I went home.
